What to Bring & Expect on Your Florida Fishing Charter

Getting ready for your Cedar Key fishing charter? Whether it’s your first trip or your fifth, a little preparation goes a long way. Captain Travis Blucher provides everything you need for a successful day on the water, but knowing what to wear, pack, and expect will help make your Florida fishing experience even better.

This guide covers what to bring, what’s provided, and a few expert tips so you’re fully prepared for your inshore or nearshore fishing trip.

When you book a fishing charter with Capt. Travis, I provide all the essentials:

• Fishing licenses for everyone on board (up to 4 anglers)
• Top-quality rods, reels, bait, and tackle
• Fly fishing gear (upon request)
• Cooler with ice
• Fish cleaning and filleting (if keeping your catch)
• A friendly fishing guide with a lot of local knowledge

You don’t need any experience, just show up ready to fish!

Use this checklist to make sure you have what you need for a smooth day on the water:

• Sunscreen (reef-safe, non-spray)
• Polarized sunglasses (for spotting fish + reducing glare)
• Hat or sun buff
• Light, breathable clothing (long sleeves recommended)
• Snacks or lunch (especially for longer trips)
• Drinks
• Camera or phone for photos
• Small cooler to take home fillets (if you plan to keep fish)

Footwear tip: Wear comfortable, non-slip shoes.

Your fishing charter is more than just casting a line. On most trips, we encounter:

• Sharks (especially in summer)
